Compensation: $115,000 - $175,000

Job Description

The Vice President of Human Assets is a senior executive responsible for leading and integrating both the Human Resources and Talent Acquisition functions that support SMART Management’s 21 schools and expanding network. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the VP of Human Assets ensures the organization attracts, selects, develops, and retains top-tier educators and staff aligned to the mission and culture. This role owns the full employee lifecycle of recruitment, onboarding, HR compliance, employee relations, performance management, and staff development. The VP sets the vision and builds the systems, processes, and team capacity needed to achieve year-round organizational goals and the hiring outcomes required for network success.

In addition, the VP of Human Assets manages and develops the Human Assets Department, including both Talent and HR, to ensure high-quality execution across all people-related functions. This executive serves as the primary point of contact for all employee relations matters and employment-related legal issues, overseeing complaints, investigations, grievances, lawsuits, attorney inquiries, and agency matters such as filings. The VP partners with external legal counsel, ensures HR policies remain compliant and up-to-date, and leads proactive practices that reduce risk, strengthen staff culture, promote equity, and safeguard the organization across all campuses and the central office.

Key Activities

Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning

  • Build and manage a year-round recruitment strategy aligned to network growth and staffing needs.

  • Oversee sourcing, recruitment marketing, job scorecards, pipelines, and referral programs.

  • Establish strong partnerships with teacher prep programs, universities, and community organizations.

  • Lead forecasting for staffing, turnover, and talent needs for new school launches.

Human Resources Leadership

  • Lead the HR function including compliance, benefits, employee relations, records, onboarding/offboarding, and policy development.

  • Establish and ensure adherence to HR policies aligned with Florida charter law, state and federal HR requirements, and local district expectations.

  • Build and maintain competitive compensation and benefits strategies.

  • Oversee employee relations and investigations with fairness, timeliness, and legal compliance.

Employee Lifecycle & Development

  • Create systems for onboarding, new employee orientation, and ongoing staff development.

  • Partner with Schools Team to support leadership development pathways

  • Lead performance management systems and trainings including evaluations, coaching processes, and progressive discipline.

Organizational Culture & Engagement

  • Build a culture that reflects BridgePrep’s values and fosters employee belonging.

  • Lead network-wide retention strategies including recognition, feedback loops, and culture-building initiatives.

  • Monitor and improve employee satisfaction data through surveys and targeted action plans.

Team Management & Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Manage, coach, and develop the HR and Talent team

  • Partner with Schools, Operations, Finance, and Legal to ensure alignment and integrated communication.

  • Serve as a strategic thought partner to the COO on organizational design, staffing models, compensation, and human capital strategy.

Scaling & Growth

  • Build HR/Talent systems that support the network’s expansion, including new school openings and organizational restructuring.

  • Ensure all new schools are staffed with high-quality teams and fully compliant at launch.

Success in Year 1:

The Vice President of Human Assets will be successful in their first year if:

  • 95% of all teachers hired by June 15 for the upcoming school year.

  • Stay 97% hired across the network throughout the school year.

  • 85%+ teacher retention network-wide.

  • 90% employee onboarding satisfaction rating for new hires.

  • Implementation of a year-round talent recruitment and cultivation model.

  • Clear hiring scorecards and HR processes are created and adopted network-wide.

  • HR and Talent teams have clear goals, roles, and quarterly performance metrics.

Reporting Structure

  • Reports to: Chief Operating Officer

  • Manages: Director of Human Resources, Human Resources Manager, Director of Talent

  • Collaborates with: Chief Executive Officer, Chief Schools Officer, Vice Presidents of Schools, Campus Principals

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution (Master’s preferred)

  • At least 5+ years of HR and/or Talent experience

  • 3+ years of leading HR operations and/or recruitment functions

  • Proven track record of achieving large scale hiring

  • Knowledge of HR regulations, charter compliance, and instructional staffing
