    Vision of Excellence

    The Founding Principal is a visionary and resilient leader who will breathe life into the Arcadia model in Houston, TX. This is a true "builder" role, requiring a leader who can navigate the ambiguity of a school launch while maintaining an uncompromising bar for academic excellence and inclusive culture. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Founding Principal will serve as the primary instructional architect, cultural anchor, and community face of the school, ensuring that every student thrives in an environment designed specifically for their success.

    What You Will Do

    Instructional Leadership & Model Iteration (45%)

    • Drive high-quality instruction and curriculum implementation that aligns with Arcadia’s reimagined classroom and schedule.

    • Provide aggressive, real-time coaching to teachers, fostering an environment where pedagogical innovation and student data drive every decision.

    • Oversee the "Reimagined Classroom" environment, ensuring technology and physical space are utilized to maximize student agency and growth.

    Vision and Culture Leadership (25%)

    • Establish the inaugural school-wide vision, building "Community in the Classroom" from the ground up.

    • Create a nurturing, high-expectations environment with routines that address the specific developmental needs of Houston’s students.

    • Foster high staff morale and resilience, leading by example through the inevitable challenges of a founding year.

    Leadership Development and Team Management (15%)

    • Recruit, hire, and develop a founding team of educators who are mission-aligned and eager to work in a non-traditional setting.

    • Build a collaborative professional learning community (PLC) where feedback is constant and professional growth is a daily expectation.

    Community and Stakeholder Engagement (10%)

    • Serve as the primary ambassador for Arcadia Schools in the Houston community, building deep trust with families and local partners.

    • Lead student recruitment efforts alongside the COO to ensure the school opens at full capacity with a deeply invested community.

    Operations, Data, and Continuous Improvement (5%)

    • Partner with the COO to ensure school schedules, safety protocols, and facilities support the instructional vision.

    • Use rapid-cycle data analysis to monitor student progress and pivot strategies as needed to ensure all students are meeting ambitious growth targets.

    Experience & Qualifications

    • Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Educational Leadership or a related field strongly preferred.

    • Certification: Valid Texas state administrative or principal certification (or the immediate ability to obtain one).

    • Professional Experience:

      • 5+ years in education, with at least 2 years in a school-level leadership role (Principal, Assistant Principal, or Dean).

      • Proven track record of driving significant student academic growth, preferably in a founding or turnaround environment.

      • Experience leading in a startup or rapidly growing organization is a significant plus.

    • Technical Skills: Proficiency with data tools (e.g., Google Workspace, SIS platforms) and a knack for learning new educational technologies.
