Salary Range: $68,000 - $95,000 (based on experience)

The following duties are normal for this position. Other duties may be required and assigned. This is a POOLED position; interviews will be scheduled contingent upon the availability of an open vacancy.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
The Dean of Students:
Provides support to Principal.
Drafts and prepares all correspondence including letters, memorandums, agendas, reports, minutes, and other documents.
Implements Student Code of Conduct.
Creates a safe and orderly school environment.
Coordinates school field trips.
Maintains calendar and schedules appointments as needed. Answers calls, records messages, and re-directs inquiries to the appropriate individual. Attends to all visitors and staff.
Maintains office filing system. Copies, faxes, and files correspondence as requested. Assists with data input.
Communicates with parents and key stakeholders. Takes and transcribes dictation.
Manages Saturday detention and suspensions.
Collaborates with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents, and a variety of community resources for the purpose of improving the overall quality of student outcomes, achieving established classroom objectives in support of the school improvement plan
Counsels students for the purpose of improving performance, health status, problem solving techniques and a variety of personal issues
Manages student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment
Monitors students in a variety of educational environments (e.g. classroom, school grounds, hallways, restrooms, field trips, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment
Participates in a variety of meetings and professional development activities for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions

Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution
Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
A minimum 1 year of Teaching Experience.
Governed by the Rules and Regulations of the Tennessee Code Annotated and the Tennessee Board of Education
Must be physically and mentally able to perform the responsibilities and duties of the position

Equipment, Machinery, Tools, and Materials Utilization: Requires the ability to operate, maneuver and/or control the actions of equipment, machinery, tools, and/or materials used in performing essential functions.
Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to utilize a wide variety of reference, descriptive, and/or advisory data and information.
Mathematical Aptitude: Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; the ability to calculate decimals and percentages; the ability to utilize principles of fractions; and the ability to interpret graphs.
Functional Reasoning: Requires the ability to apply principles of rational systems, philosophies, laws, regulations, and procedures; to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form; and to exercise independent judgment to adopt or modify methods and standards to meet variations in assigned objectives.
Situational Reasoning: Requires the ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness and creativity in situations involving evaluation of information against measurable or verifiable criteria and the goals and priorities of planning and development programs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
o Light Work: may require occasional light lifting.
o Nights and weekend activities will be occasionally required.
o Position is in office setting and may involve prolonged work at a desk in one location.
o Moderate travel is required
